PARTS & EQUIPMENT · v 0.4
Scout 490
A compact printed rocket.
Cold-fit model. Not cleared for launch.
What you’ll print
The current body, motor cartridge and retainer specify non-foaming ASA as an experimental material. No paper liner or paper motor tube is specified.
Use the part-specific material and orientation in the build guide. The list below also includes clearly marked samples and alternatives; printing every row is not the same as building one model.

| Part | Qty | Material | Use | Assembly note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
R01-One-piece-tail | 1 | ASA (non-foaming; experimental) | Airframe part | ONE PIECE: rear sleeve and all three fins. Flat aft end DOWN; all fin bases start on the bed. Self-supporting printed body; bond adjoining sections over R04 printed couplers. No separate fins, sockets or fin glue joints. Inspect vertical fin layers and flex-test the coupon. |
R02-Body-sleeve | 1 | ASA (non-foaming; experimental) | Airframe part | Vertical, open ends. Structural printed body, 0.8 mm nominal wall. Join over printed R04 couplers with 15 mm engagement per side. Leave nose separation free. |
R04-Body-coupler | 1 | ASA (non-foaming; experimental) | Airframe part | Open tube upright. Bond 15 mm into each neighboring body section; mark its midpoint before assembly. Maintain a square butt seam and keep glue out of the recovery path. |
R05-Recovery-anchor | 1 | ASA (non-foaming; experimental) | Airframe part | Tab and ring flat DOWN. Bond 8 mm collar inside body at Z = body length minus 145 mm. Two 2.4 mm holes route a suitable recovery leader. Smooth edges, keep the recovery bay clear and pull-test the complete printed/adhesive/cord path. No load rating. |
N01-Hollow-nose | 1 | ASA (non-foaming; experimental) | Airframe part | Open shoulder DOWN. Bond N02 disk inside the rear bore with eye facing aft. Keep the sliding shoulder free of adhesive. |
N02-Recovery-eye-cap | 1 | ASA (non-foaming; experimental) | Airframe part | Disk DOWN, eye UP. Bond disk inside nose rear bore, eye facing aft into the printed body; disk rear at 1 mm above shoulder rim. Adhesive compatibility and cord pull strength require physical testing. |
L01-Launch-lug | 2 | ASA (non-foaming; experimental) | Airframe part | Bore vertical as supplied. Align both lugs on the actual 3.175 mm launch rod before bonding. Check free sliding over entire rod. |
TEST-Body-ring | 1 | ASA (non-foaming; experimental) | Fit sample / alternative | Female body-fit sample. Check TEST-Nose-shoulder and TEST-Coupler inside this ring. Use the intended ASA and print settings. Regenerate fits rather than scaling. |
TEST-Nose-shoulder | 1 | ASA (non-foaming; experimental) | Fit sample / alternative | Male shoulder sample. Nose must slide freely inside TEST-Body-ring with no binding or layer damage. |
TEST-Integral-fin-root | 1 | ASA (non-foaming; experimental) | Fit sample / alternative | Actual aft 35 mm section of ONE integrated fin and its curved sleeve/root fillet. Aft edge DOWN, same vertical layers as full tail. Check adhesion, layer bonding and flex before the complete tail. |
TEST-Launch-bore | 1 | ASA (non-foaming; experimental) | Fit sample / alternative | Fit actual rod along full length; this is the production lug geometry. |
TEST-Coupler | 1 | ASA (non-foaming; experimental) | Fit sample / alternative | Short section of the actual coupler. Check inside TEST-Body-ring and assess the cured ASA adhesive joint on sacrificial samples. |
M01-Printed-motor-cartridge | 1 | ASA (non-foaming; experimental) | Airframe part | COLD-FIT ONLY. Non-foaming ASA; no validated heat/load/adhesive/flight rating. FORWARD END DOWN as supplied. Integral motor bore, flat forward thrust stop, two tapered centering collars and male thread. Dry-fit inside tail first; bond only the outer collar bands after qualification. Keep bore, forward gas opening and threads clear. Never bond the motor. |
M02-Screw-on-retainer-cap | 1 | ASA (non-foaming; experimental) | Airframe part | COLD-FIT ONLY. Non-foaming ASA; no validated heat/load/adhesive/flight rating. Retaining lip DOWN. Custom cap stops on cartridge shoulder and overlaps the case rim. New v 0.4 thread diameter: do not mix with v 0.3. Hand fit only; establish capture, removal and resistance to loosening. |
TEST-Motor-bore | 1 | ASA (non-foaming; experimental) | Fit sample / alternative | COLD-FIT ONLY. Non-foaming ASA; no validated heat/load/adhesive/flight rating. Short motor-bore sample, axis vertical. Check an unmodified nominal motor case without a starter installed; do not force the case or sand it. Actual case diameter and ovality must be measured. |
No matching parts. Try a shorter term or include samples.
